Nestled in the mountains of Alta Verapaz, Cahabon flows alongside a river that leads to the famous Semuc Champey Park. Small-scale Q’eqchi’ farming families work in harmony with the land, supporting one another and nurturing a thriving, abundant cacao landscape. Originally part of a food sovereignty initiative, cacao is now a gift of the earth, cultivated with care, organic practices, and generations of knowledge. Supported by local programs like the Dokeshi Project, the community receives the highest wet-cacao rates in the country, alongside resources and opportunities, making every harvest a reflection of connection, care, and reciprocity between people and land.
